Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Design

Create mechanical systems and component designs for marine and subsea applications, by engaging in technical support, planning, design, procurement, installation, testing, and documentation as directed by management.
Lead project teams in providing and individually provide creative and pragmatic solutions to significant and complex technical challenges. Apply analytical rigor to engineering design deliverables for application in subsea and marine environments.

Knowledge, experience, skill, and/or ability
Required
•Competence with AutoCAD, both 2D and 3D.
•Inventor or Solidworks knowledge preferred.
•Basic capabilities in FEA (Finite Element Analysis) preferred.
•Specialized and expert-level knowledge of Marine and Subsea systems design and implementation, including but not limited to:
- Manned and unmanned submersibles
- Launch and Recovery Systems
- Underwater hydraulic circuits
- Electromechanical assemblies for marine applications
•Minimum eight (8) years of experience in designing and implementing above components and systems.
•General knowledge of sonar and underwater acoustics.
•General knowledge of submersible umbilicals.
•General knowledge of control systems for subsea applications.
•Strong knowledge of applicable standards as defined by ASME, ABS, Lloyd’s, USCG, PVHO, and others.
•General knowledge of shipboard construction techniques.
•Hands-on experience with the implementation of subsea systems and products.
•General knowledge of AC/DC power fundamentals.
•General knowledge of HVAC and life support systems for subsea applications.
•Experience with and knowledge of heavy lifting operations, including cranes and A-frames.
•Experience in coordinating designs with shipboard requirements and constraints.

Required computer skills
•Accustomed to using Internet software and e-mail.Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows OS.
•Design applications as noted above.

Education/experience/certifications
•Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 10 plus years relevant experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special remarks regarding work environment
•Extensive (up to 75%) International and Domestic travel required.
