Sr. Build Engineer
A leading live event, venue and digital distribution company focused on creating superior experiences for artists, performers, corporations and fans, is seeking a full time Sr. Build Engineer. We own and operate and/or has booking rights for 153 venues worldwide and produced more than 29,500 events in 2005 and we are Headquartered in Los Angeles, California.
Summary
Our Global Digital Group is looking for a Sr. Build Engineer who is a knowledgeable and seasoned individual in all facets of SCM & build engineering within a distributed environment. This individual will work with an application team or teams and will be viewed as the authority of both SCM and build aspects of the applications they support. The ideal candidate will be able to guide the application teams through the SCM process, perform the necessary builds for them, and be the key focal point in addressing any SCM and build related issues as they arise. Must be very detailed-oriented and continuously strive to improve and automate our SCM, build and build validation methods as well as the application delivery system and any interfaces to business requirement and bug tracking systems.
Responsibilities
•Monitor and report on build progress
•Interact with Dev engineers to learn about internal programming interfaces & work flow, including build build deliveries and test processes
•Help develop strategies for improving SCM and build workflows and processes
•Help ensure relevant test coverage
•Document build and release procedures for deployment to production
•Work with development and quality assurance teams, etc. to help facilitate smooth, stable releases
•Interact with appropriate manager(s) to prioritize work
•Participate as an integral part of the team, exhibiting ownership, follow through, initiative, awareness and effective communication with peers and management
•Continually learn, actively share knowledge and foster exchange of skills
•Proactively identify opportunities to improve the quality of the builds and information systems, including, but not limited to ongoing automation efforts
•Perform ad hoc projects as required.
•Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
•4-6 years of hands-on build management or related development experience
•Direct work experience implementing Software Configuration Managementprocesses and tools in a web-based and client-server environment
•A Solid Understanding of Configuration Management best practice principles
•Ability to assess quickly the current configuration management process
•Ability to implement, train, and maintain configuration management process
•Hands-on experience with various SCM tools; e.g. Subversion, CVS, etc.
•Hands-on experience in customizing Software Configuration Managementtools to reflect a process workflow by creating and maintaining UserExits / Triggers, User Roles, Notification mechanisms etc
•Hands-on experience with creating and/or customizing build automation tools on both the UNIX and WINDOWS NT/XP environment
•Must understand code and the architecture (i.e. read / write) well enough to identify andcorrect conflicts and make build decisions
•Understanding of programming languages, tools and technologies such as:

•Solid understanding and experienced user of Unix

•Excellent written and oral communication skills, can express thoughts clearly, knows how to listen and is able to contribute in a team environment
•Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
•Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to multi-task and work independently with minimum supervision to meet firm deadlines
•Flexible, proactive, quick to learn and with a can-do attitude
Strong Preference given to those with:
•Experience with HP / Mercury Quality Center.
•System/application admin background (Unix, Apache, MySQL, etc.)
•Experience developing web-based applications, using app servers and technologies e.g. HTTP, SSL, etc.
•Strong writing skills (e.g. whitepapers, best practices, etc.)
•Strong project management skills
•Have hands on IT setting up servers, networking, etc.
