We are seeking a Senior System Administrator to join the company and take responsibility for, and manage, both the Fonality Sys Admin team and information technology projects in the Engineering group. As our Senior System Administrator, you’ll be responsible for numerous business critical systems and networks as well as our resident technical expert, team leader, and team mentor.
The Fonality network currently consists of 50+ Linux servers across multiple data centers with high-speed network connectivity. Our systems integrate multiple continents and provide the backbone for a global distribution of thousands of CPE-based VoIP PBX systems. This job requires an accomplished, experienced candidate who has 10+ years experience managing Linux systems and networks of our size and complexity as well as team lead and project management experience. The position demands a high level of accountability and technical competency.
Fonality utilizes open-source technologies to do things typically accomplished with big-iron enterprise solutions. We’ve made custom code modifications to Asterisk, Apache, MyDNS and VTund (just to name a few) to help meet our enterprise needs. Responsibilities: - Manage, mentor, train, and hire within the Fonality Sys Admin team
- Extensive Linux application support for mission critical services including MySQL, Apache, Lighttpd, Perl, mod_perl, NFS, SSH, BIND/DNS, Postfix SMTP, Nagios and numerous other common Linux network services
- Administration, Backup/Restore, and regular maintenance of all mission critical systems in Fonality Corporate Headquarters and across multiple Data Centers
- Coordinate with Staff to integrate on new products and services into the Data Center Environment
- Maintain and administer corporate VoIP network with 60 remote workers accessing voice services via internet to HQ location
- This job comes with a 24x7x365 on-call responsibility to be shared with the rest of the Systems Administration team
Preferred Skills and Experience: - 10+ years of Linux or UNIX system administration experience desired (CentOS/Fedora Core preferred)
- Previous management or team lead experience
- Project management experience with a track record of delivering complex software and IT infrastructure projects on time and within budget
- Performance and utilization analysis of distributed systems
- XEN, DNS, Linux HA, Linux LVS Load Balancing, VTund, Lighttpd, Zimbra, LDAP
- Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations
- The desire and commitment to work effectively in a team environment
- Must be able to communicate effectively, in both verbal and written English
